Our restaurant was established through our passion for good food set in a relaxed environment. We added our love for hosting people into the mix and in 2019 our dream became a reality.

 

After contemplating a name that would sound inviting as well as encompass our core values we came across the Afrikaans spelling of the word “bush”.

 

The idea is to create a unique experience unlike any other in the Lowveld. We strive for customer satisfaction at all times.

 

We also believe in having fun. Our staff are encouraged to be authentic while enjoying serving our valued customers. We are a diverse group of people and thus we encourage you to speak to any of our staff members should you not be satisfied.

 

We want you to leave bos. in good spirit after escaping reality in our relaxed surroundings. 

 

bos. Restaurant & Bar is managed and owned by family orientated, passionate individuals who care for their community and believe in creating a great experience.

Morne

CO-OWNER AND HEAD OF OPERATIONS

Morné Kruger was born in the sunny province of Mpumalanga. In 2009 he moved to the big city to pursue a successful radio career at Jacaranda FM. 

 

In November 2019 Morné returned to his roots, settling down in the holiday town of Marloth Park on the border of the Kruger National Park.

Morné and his partner, Danie van der Walt took over the restaurant at the Bush Centre, and aptly named is bos.

This is where both Morné and Danie's passion for good food, a great ambiance and friendly people greets you every time you open the wooden front door of bos. Restaurant & Bar.

DANIE

CO-OWNER AND HEAD OF HR & FINANCE

Danie van der Walt was born in Giyani in the beautiful province of Limpopo. He chased his dream of working in the entertainment industry by organising various festivals in and around the province. 

It was through his passion for people and music that he ended up working at one of the most prestigious holiday estates in the country, before setting foot in the corporate world of marketing.

Danie joined his partner, Morné on a quest to bring a unique experience to the town of Marloth Park. Armed with his knowledge in the marketing sector, he is responsible for the administrative side of bos. Restaurant & Bar.

MELISSA

RESTAURANT MANAGER 

Melissa Smit is a former pre-school teacher who has always had a natural flair for people and great food. She started her career by working in a local grocer in Rustenburg where after she ventured into the hospitality industry. 

Life brought her to Komatipoort in the early 2000s and in 2019 she started out as a stand-in manager at bos. Restaurant & Bar in her free time. 

In 2022 we welcomed her as an integral part of the bos. management team.

Melissa has a great knack with clients and is well loved by our staff members. 

"I love it when people enjoy great food in a tranquil environemnt, but I am also not shy to pump up the volume and dance the night away," she says.
